Dr. Parellada's areas of clinical work include: severe mental disorders in adolescents, mainly first episodes of psychosis and autism (ASD). Dr. Parellada's main research areas are: 1) early onset psychosis, including psychopharmacology, structural neuroimaging, inflammatory mechanisms and efficacy and tolerance of second-generation antipsychotics. 2) Autism, including: services development and the neurobiology of ASD, searching for biomarkers and intermediate mechanisms of the disorder, with the view of understanding the pathology and finding new and /or better defined therapeutic targets.
