Autism Spectrum Disorder and related diagnoses pose a broad array of challenges for the individual with the diagnosis and their family. Our goal is to help you on this journey. We want you to know you are not alone. We provide parent support and navigation services to help you locate and connect with resources in the community. We also offer individual and group services to help you navigate the system, provide support, and connect you with additional services.
- Individual Support: Our Clinical Social Worker, Katy, offers sessions to provide support for caregivers of neurodiverse children, teens, and young adults. These sessions can be a one-time meeting or part of a short series, depending on the goals you and Katy set together. Families have found these sessions helpful for getting guidance on finding and using outside resources, managing parenting stress and partner relationships, and navigating thoughts and feelings following a new diagnosis. As your child grows and their needs change, your needs as a caregiver will also change. We hope this service will offer you valuable support on your parenting journey.
- Group Education and Support (Caregivers of children ages 1-6):
First Steps Together is a 10-week program that provides information, support, and education for parents of children under six who have recently been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Caregivers participate in expert-led discussion on the most critical topics for families of newly diagnosed children. They learn about characteristics, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), accessing services in the community, and how to begin improving communication and reducing problem behaviors.
